John Bowles is a Mo Award winning performer, who started his career on Australian variety television as a young child star in the cast of Young Talent Time, from the age of 10-16yrs.
As an adult John’s career has encompassed many facets of the entertainment industry… stage, television, writing, directing, producing, and concert productions.
He has also founded and presented on the theatre website: LiveTheatreUK. And he is currently writing a children’s musical.
Storytelling has always been part of John’s extensive career. At INSEAD (“Business School for the World” in Fontainebleau, France) John presents his Storytelling workshop using the principles of acting and performing to bring alive Storytelling for the business world.
John Bowles is at home on the theatre stage, in concert, in front of or behind the camera, as a producer, in the recording studio, or as a television host.
Disney produced a “backstage documentary” hosted by JB. The filming took place at The Lyceum Theatre, London.
Co-founder of LIVETHEATREUK, John filmed backstage interviews in London’s west End with the leading players of live theatre.
JB performs his arrangement of John Lennon’s Imagine in the Xmas edition of Sunday In The Apartment (A showcase of Australian talent in London – an initiative of the Australian High Commission).
The show, written by John, has toured extensively through Australia. Here John sings ‘Tenterfield Saddler’ in his tribute to famous Australian songwriter Peter Allen.
John grew up on Australian TV as a young star of the enormously successful variety program Young Talent Timeand featured in more than 300 hours of “live” television, concerts and recordings, over a period of five years, from the age of ten. In 2001 he produced and directed a documentary TV Special which looked back at the unique experience of the Young Talent Time cast members, not only was it one of the highest rating programs of that year, but it has since been successful DVD release for Universal.
John was flown to Australia to participate in the re-launch of the iconic Australian television program in 2012. The re-launch was a star-studded event at Luna Park, Sydney, and included interviews and live performances.
John returned to the romantic lead role of Raoul in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong & Melbourne for this world tour.
John performed in Masterpiece, starring Elaine Page, in front of a live audience of 15,000, and a television audience of millions, in Beijing’s Great Hall Of The People. This music theatre event paying tribute to the music of Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber, which includes John singing the duet from “Phantom”, has since been released worldwide on DVD.
JB produced/directed/and hosted the documentary TV special that looked back at the tremendous success of the iconic Australian variety program Young Talent Time, which John had been a cast member of as a young performer. The program went on to be released on DVD through Universal Pictures.
Essgee Entertainment’s hit re-staging of Stephen Sondheim’s musical starred Jon English. JB played the romantic lead character of Hero opposite Helen Donaldson throughout Australia and New Zealand.

He is well known for his solo concert and cabaret performances for which he has won two Australian Mo Awards. He has appeared on every major Australian TV variety program and featured in his own regular segment on The Midday Show (CH 9) for three years at the request of Ray Martin.
